The Memo card game
For his 50th birthday, I gave Benoît the 1970 Memo card game. As for his other birthdays, I wanted to create something with the unit numbers corresponding to his age. That's why there are 50 cards. I came up with the idea of a memory card game.
Everyone knows this game : one has to flip cards, two by two, to make as many pairs as you can. The Memo can be played solo, or with 2 players or more. Everyone enjoys it, at every age.
The research I had to do helped me develop my small general culture knowledge about the celebrities born that year, about the creation of objects, of architecture, of scientific inventions, about the creation of businesses and of brands. It was time well spent.
We often play with the 1970 Memo. Since it's small, we take it with us every holiday.
I wanted to develop this concept with other years.
I gave a Memo game to my sisters, respectively born in 1965, 1969 and 1981.
I gave a Memo game to two of my dearest friends, Veronica and Manuella, both born in 1977. And I completed the series with the year 2002, for the 18th birthday of my niece, Léna.
I measured the success of this project through their enthusiastic reactions.
I imagine my game displayed in shops, in carousels with years spanning from 1960 to 2004, 2005 etc. A collection that would celebrate the 18th to the 61th, 62nd, 63rd birthdays... with a new release, each year to celebrate the people reaching the age of majority (the minimal age limit for the first nostalgic memories; and to have enough perspective to find 24 references).
Here, you can see the images of the1977 Memo.
I haven't found the company to publish the Memo-birthday games yet. (In the meantime, I can take private orders, against payment. And if I have already created the Memo of the wanted year, you pay a cheaper price.)
